Volunteers Needed! Let’s make an impact for aspiring technologists on Long Island.
The Harborfields Work Based Learning Program provides educators and community members the opportunity to assist in preparing students for college and future careers.
Long Island Women in Tech participated last year by providing a Guest Speaker and now that the program is kicking off for the 2017/2018 school year, we would love to see more participation from our members.
You can participate in one or all of the following ways:
- Guest Speaker for Career Awareness classes at Harborfields High School: In this class, students explore different careers and hear from guest speakers in various fields. Attend two class sessions from 10:43-11:23 and 11:28-12:08 and speak to the students about your job path and current responsibilities.
- Job Shadow Day: Participate in National Job Shadow Day on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 by allowing a student or a small group of students to spend the day at your job site.
- Internship: Choose a student intern to gain work-related experience at your job site. Students will earn high school credit through this experience.
- Industry Advisory Board (IAB): Join the IAB; a school-business partnership that meets four times a year to facilitate activities that directly impact students.
If you are interested in any of the above opportunities, please reach out to us and let us know.
