Who We Are

We are 400+ Women in Tech and male allies from varied backgrounds across Long Island. From newbies starting out to advanced application architects, our network is expansive. We invite professional women in all levels of their careers, students interested in a technical or computing career and men in tech who support diversity to join our group.

What We Do

We provide opportunities to network, learn new skills, provide or receive mentorship, get career support and give back to our community all here on Long Island. We foster a safe space for you to try something new, test out your ideas, share your concerns and get advice. This is a no judgement zone.

Why We Do It

You don’t have to trek into NYC to network with technology professionals, find a mentor, get career help or learn a new technical skill. LI Women in Tech brings all of that and more to you right here on Long Island. We provide a safe space for all women whether they’re just starting out in their careers or have been here for decades. We work to amplify the work you’re doing, help you make necessary connections and keep you engaged in your career while staying close to home.

Long Island Women in Tech aims to increase the number of women in technology roles on Long Island by providing a supportive community, mentorship, career development and education to women at all levels of their careers.

Founder & Organizer

Stefana founded LI Women in Tech in 2015 after realizing her network of other women in technology on Long Island was slim to none. Over the past 2 years, Stefana has grown the group from 5 members to over 250 and brought high-quality networking events and webinars to the techie ladies of Long Island. Stefana represents our group through her many volunteer activities in the community bringing computer science to children from pre-K through High School. By day, Stefana is a Vice President at a budding start-up, Opsani, building new tools for rapid app deployment.

LaShana Breland

Director & Social Media Guru

Shana heads up our social media presence at LI Women in Tech. You can find her on LinkedIN, Facebook and Twitter sharing the most recent content relevant to women in tech on Long Island. By day, Shana is a Salesforce Administrator & Front End Developer commuting on the LIRR and NYC subway to get to her job in Chelsea. She’s a tea enthusiast and loves working on her personal side projects.

Samantha Seymour

Samantha is an experienced IT professional, who heads up our membership engagement and event planning. She has been in IT long enough to know that women in IT are commonly uncommon. She is passionate about empowering women especially in industries such as Technology and Telecommunications. By day, Samantha is the Director of Application Support and Maintenance at a local telecom & media company. She and her team design, build and manage enterprise databases, Hadoop platforms and production application environments.

Kerry Harrison

Kerry helps us build out our brand at LI Women in Tech by reviewing content, our website and helping design our new logo. By day, Kerry is a User Experience expert with a background in graphic and user interface design. 

Margarita Zias

Margarita Zias


Margarita is currently a Computer Science and Mathematics student at CUNY Queens College and has represented it and it’s tech incubator at various events around the country from SheHacks Boston to AthenaHacks in Los Angeles. She works as a cybersecurity facilitator for the tech incubator at Queen’s College and as a marketing assistant for a company called Texas Scenic. She loves building things as a result of her time working in an electrical shop when she was 16. Some of her hobbies include anime, superhero movies and diving!
